2:00 - 3:00pm Database for Ocean and Hurricane Research and Intensity Studies (DOHRIS) tutorial (abstract)

The Database for Ocean and Hurricane Research and Intensity Studies (DOHRIS; https://www.aoml.noaa.gov/phod/hurricane_tracker/) provides a comprehensive collection of ocean-atmosphere data for Atlantic tropical cyclones, with the goal of aiding research and data-model comparisons. All data are in a common format and currently span 1997-2023. A graphical interface enables viewing of historical TC tracks and data availability and allows customized downloading of different in-situ and satellite datasets, including measurements from hurricane reconnaissance aircraft. This presentation gives an overview of DOHRIS and its capabilities, and a brief tutorial for navigating the graphical display, data download, and full database. Comments and recommendations for improvement are encouraged, as we are trying to create a product that is most useful for the tropical cyclone research community.
